How to get young people interested in Christianity?

Young people should be made interested in their religion so that they can learn to live by the way of God from an early age. But how can young people be made to get interested in Christianity? Here’s how.

It is extremely important for Churches who want to attract young people to stop being judgmental. Seriously, arguing about whether being gay is okay or not is not going to win the Church any brownie points with the youth. Also, arguing whether or not women can or should accept positions of leadership is not a good idea.

Being genuine is the way to go. Young people know that the Church is hardly a rock band. Stop pretending otherwise. Being genuine will pull the youth towards the religion much more easily.

If the Church actually started worrying about the real problems the world is facing, say, poverty, racism, violence against women, high rate of mortality of children and terminal diseases and doing something to prevent them, the youth will naturally become interested in the religion. Doing something good for the community is what most youths are really interested in.

Christianity is really not about being shy of laughter, music, dancing, good food, lighting candles, incense or love. So the Churches should understand this too.

When Christian priests genuinely try to be with people who need help, young people understand the goodness of it all.

Churches should have a part open for people to pray in at all times of the day. This makes easier for young people to come in.
