Should you convert to Christianity?
The truth is that converting from one religion to another or to perhaps no religion at all is a completely personal matter. If you choose to convert yourself to Christianity, don’t consider it as a matter of membership to a Church. Rather, it is a matter of faith- faith in God, in Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible. Before converting, you should learn about the religion well and the principles and tenets that guide the Christian way of life. If you have realized that you do want to convert to Christianity, here are things you should do:
Getting yourself converted to Christianity is really not about joining a Church and getting religiously affiliated. It is a lot more than that. It should be the case that you have a personal relationship with God and it is a faith you personally believe in. Before the conversion happens, you should start feeling a sort of spiritual awareness and have faith in the power of God and how He will guide you on the road to salvation.
You should understand that God loves you for what you are. So it doesn’t mater how good a person you are, you must have committed some sin or the other in your life. That does not matter, because God loves you in spite of the sins.
It will be great if you can find a person who is of the Christian faith. Ask him to her to guide you in making the religion a part of your life.

The history of Christianity started way back when Jesus of Nazareth, started preaching about a religion not yet born. Jesus Christ was God Incarnate. When he died, he was resurrected by God and then he ascended to heaven. It was Peter, his successor, who was responsible for founding the Roman Catholic Church. It was centuries later that Martin Luther started the Reformation, which was the inception of a number of Christian religions today.
Though in the initial times, Christianity was not much more than a small movement, it grew when his followers started preaching and spreading the tenets of it. It was acknowledged by the followers that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and the Son of God.
The Gospels came to be written probably around 60 to 90 C.E., some time after Jesus died on the cross around 30 C.E. After this, a lot of battles and wars have been fought over the religion and much blood has been shed. In the year 1948, the World Council of Churches was formed. The Catholic Church too started a process of modernization which continued up to the 1960’s.
Christianity is the most popular belief system in the whole world and has the majority number of followers. There are lots of believers who follow the tenets of the religion without going to Church and many more who do. There are also many denominations and sects of the religion. But overall, Christianity as a religion continues to prosper.

It may be a cause of wonder that a religion which had its inception more than 2000 years ago is still so popular with people all over the world. Not only is it followed by the majority of the population on earth, it is also well- respected by most others.
One of the reasons why it Christianity so popular is because it attempts to explain everything: from how the universe was created to the causes of bad things in people’s lives. Such a modern, all- encompassing religion was just the thing that the world and its people need. It was basically a case of being at the right place at the right time.
Moreover, the idea of ‘salvation’ that Christianity preaches was also extremely appealing. The importance of man, his place in the whole scheme of things and the power he has to control his own fate up to a certain point are things that Christians base their beliefs on. The very emotional power and complexity that Christianity offered as a world view meant that people from all backgrounds can relate to it. Hence its popularity.
Christianity is essentially a religion that can be easily understood by the masses. It does not have too high- brow expectations of men and the ‘ten commandments’ are easily applicable to today’s times as well. Basically it is a religion that has proudly stood the test of times and has reinvented itself as and when required. That explains its popularity even to this day.
